Fall 2011

Rochelle wanted to update her blog. This is what she asked me to type... Danielle

Summer flew by so fast with all the cancer stuff going on. I visited CTCA and they didn't have much to say or do for me. I had several scans. The cancer has spread to the kidneys. With all the medical stuff I didn't get to play with my kids much. I spent a lot of time in the emergency room because of dehydration. I have now been in the hospital for 11 days. I'm hoping to go home soon once hospice is set up. Please no pity parties. I'm still a fighter - I'll just be fighting on the other side soon. Thanks for your support, your help, and your kindness. There are lots of people who need service please don't stop with me. Remember I'm not dead yet. I can still talk and have fun. I have some good moments but please understand I don't know when those will be so don't take it personal. Please have good days for me. Love, Rochelle

Oh Rochelle you are so amazing. You inspire so many. I know this has been a tough fight for you and your strength is so unwavering. Miracles happen everyday, I know this because you are one. I have the bracelet you made me around the rearview mirror in my truck and I see it and think of you everyday. It helps me to remember to thank God for every moment we are given, because every one is a blessing trusted to us from God. You are in my prayers daily. Know you are loved and supported with anything you may want or need. Excuse my French, but girl you kick a**! All of my love and hugs. :) KariAnne

Rochelle and family,

We have been blessed to know your entire family. I will never forget Visiting with you at the Dance Class recitals. Always made me nervous when my time came to dance, cause I knew you and Ryan were out there LOL. You have shown us service in so many ways. I will never forget when you and Heidi were going through Chemo during the same time. You kept bringing dinner over. Even when we said we wanted to bring you dinner. We even tried to dodge your calls so you couldnt ask us about dinner. But that didn't work!!!!! You would just show up! That's when I knew you were awnry! You and Ryan taught us ALOT by the great examples you both are. Truly wonderful people and will love you all always! Remember as the apostles have told us "Always look up!". Proud of you! You are strong and you are an inspiration.

You probably don't know who I am, but I want to let you know how much I admire you and the grace you have fought this disease with. I lost my mom two years ago to ovarian cancer. She fought it for a long time and never allowed it to stop her from living her life to the fullest while she was on the earth. Good moms always have an influence on their children whether they are on this side of the veil or on the other side. Thank you for your example. Some of us admire your strength from a far, but have a great respect none the less. Prayers and peace from our family to yours. ~Kori Crowther

Doggone, Rochelle!
It doesn't feel like you've been here LONG enough..but you've made SUCH a difference in this earth, I think you squeezed NINETY years into your relatively short turn-on-earth! I know you've done everything you know how to do to prepare your husband, kids and family for your parting, and I admire the gallant smile and courage which you wear like a beautiful mantle!
Several years ago, my big brother died from cancer( after battling it for 23 years!)He'd been through so much, that he was at peace with the idea (ESPECIALLY after a visit he got from a dear friend who recounted to him HIS experience at "dying". He told about his out-of-body experience-even knowing what his wife was doing in the other room at the time--he was in a hospital. His friend KNOWS that there is a life on the other side of the veil, and that it will be an amazingly short-to-you time until you are reunited with your earthly loved-ones!).
My brother took a "todo" list with him to take care of, on the "other side"..I don't know if it's "just a coincidence", but after he died, the "to do" list was happily fulfilled: genealogy names found, longed-for babies blessed the lives of his offspring, his wayward son "came back" and had a wonderful daughter and his wife is in a peaceful place in her life, after so much turmoil.)
You may live 20 more years and show us ALL to our Eternal Reward, or you may go tomorrow, but you are part of a perfect plan, and you have done a beautiful job throughout your trials of learning, teaching, and growing! Hugs to you, and know that LIFE DOES GO ON and you will be eternally happy with YOUR "Big Brother" when you get to the "next step" WHENEVER that may be!

Much love from the Fowers Family

Rochelle, I’ve been keeping tabs on you and your family these last few years through this blog and the updates I get from my mom from time to time. I’m sitting here bawling tonight after reading your latest post. This is just so devastatingly sad to me. I can’t even start to imagine what you and your family are going through right now.

Even though we don’t see each other much as adults I want you to know that you have had an impact on my life. For starters, I remember as a small child being memorized by your beauty. You were like a real live Barbie doll to me. And now today when I run into you around town (or in Vegas) it’s still the same… Just beautiful! Growing up, you were always very kind to your “little sister’s friend” (me), and I haven’t forgotten. You have always been such a good example. And now today, through reading your blog, I admire you for your courage, your testimony, your love, your spunk and positive attitude, and your strength. You are definitely a fighter.

I hope that over the next few weeks you will be able to have many “good moments” with your family and loved ones and that you will feel the prayers we’re sending your way. Love Stacey Ostler(Rose)

Rochelle,

You are amazing. I saw you at church a few Sundays ago. Danielle stopped you as you and your family were leaving to see how you were doing. I heard you mention some side effects from the medication that were not so enjoyable. What impressed me from this exchange was your kind, gentle manner and upbeat attitude in the face of adversity. I wondered if I would be so graceful when I felt such discomfort. I always hope I'll be like that by the time I'm 80, but you seem to have mastered it in your youth. (Okay, no one is perfect ;-), so maybe you haven't mastered it, but you sure seem to excel at it!)

You live a life of inspiration and are creating a great legacy for your husband and children. They are blessed to have you as a wife and mom. I hope you write them lots of love letters that they can treasure forever. We are praying for you and your family. You have such an awesome family. We love you!

Dear Rochelle,
I want to express my love to you and that I think I have the best neise in the world. I love Ryan he is such a gem and loves you so much. Your three children are so special, I love their little personalities and smiles. What an honor I found it to be that you would come up to mariner games and I got to have you stay at my home. In September when you came I felt like Carter and wanted to keep you for another night. I knew how sick you were and that getting home was were you needed to be. But I loved being with you. Your spirit radiated as you sat upon my couch. I felt the eternities in your presense.
I thought back on so many sweet pictures I have of you when you were young. The ones of you and the twins on your first Christmas are so precious.
I admire you Rocelle and so do my children you have been in our minds, hearts and prayers. Heavenly Fathers loves you very much we just wish he would let us keep you longer.
I noticed you started blogging Oct 2, 2007 four years ago. Thank you for sharing your life with us over those years through expressions of words. It meant a lot to all of us and we found your courage and streghth a great inspiration in our everyday lives.
I love you with every fiber of my existance, whole heart and soul. Auntie Christy

I do not know you personally though I feel I have known you a life time, I heard your inspirational story through a dear friend that has so much companion for you and your family-

"Our Father in heaven" -- We need to always acknowledge first and foremost who we are talking to. He (God) is our heavenly Father. We address Him with respect just as we should address our earthly father with respect. He is the only true God who created all things in this universe, including ourselves. He loves us and we need to show our love for Him.

Rochelle,
I am deeply saddened to read this latest post. My prayers have been with you and your family, and it has been difficult to comprehend why something like this should happen to such an amazing person. I understand the Lord has a plan for all of us and we may not fully understand it. However, I believe in this case your family, friends, and all who have been blessed with crossing your path, have a right to be selfish and urge you to continue to fight. We all need you in our lives, to remind us of just how precious life and family is, to remind us that as fragile as we may feel, we do have it within us to be strong. Those who know and have known you, will always carry you in our hearts. While God may one day decide to take your body, he has made sure that your soul will be entwined with those you have touched.

I think of you often, and know that I am a better son, husband, father, brother and friend because you had been in my life.

Please keep up the fight, continue to teach us, and continue to be a strong ambassador for our Lord and Savior.

With love,
Lars
