Chemo Day 1

Sorry it to so long to update. I had a few visitors today so it took a little bit to get the blog. I was nice to see some friendly faces after chemo. We had a busy day today.

I saw Dr. Ken the natural path. He had good news all the medicine I am on is decreasing. Meaning my body needs less pills ha. That was good news today. We also took Kamden and Carter down to see Dr. Kenzie she is the peds doctor down there. We took two cars because they weren't done before I had to leave. So Carter had a lot of ear wax build up so that has slowed his speech and a possible ruptured one ear drum. Kamden is allergic to milk so we have to cut back on all milk intake. It has caused her some infections and to be constipated. So I am hoping they will both be on the way to getting better. So since Ryan had to stay with the kids and my dad is still in extreme pain from his back and my sister Kendall took him to a physical therapist appointment. I went alone for the first little bit.

I had my appointment at 12:30. We went over all the medicines again and the schedule of medicine which has changed. I am on three drugs first they give me some good anti-nausea medicine and that takes about 10 minutes, then the first drug is Navelbine with takes about 8-10minutes to drain in then Abraxane it take 60 minutes and then Herceptin which takes 90 minutes. So I do all three of those on day one. Then on day 8 which is next Tuesday I do just the Nessa medicine and the Navelbine that takes 10 minutes or so. Then the third week I am off and then fourth week or I should say back to day 1 of the cycle. I will be taking blood test once a week to watch the blood counts and also a shot they will do the day after day 8. The shot is to start my making my body produce more bone marrow. She said the first couple of shot will cause pain. She said after a couple of shots your body gets used to the shot and it isn't such bad pain. She said they forgot to tell someone about the pain and they showed up in the e.r. thinking they were having a heart attach from the pain in the breast bone. Today they gave me benadryl with one of the chemos. I took it on an empty stomach and the room started spinning so I closed my eyes and took a nice nap and it was time to go home. I have to say it was such a nice break to set and visit with Ryan and the couple next to us. And it was a bigger bonus no side affects today. I feel pretty good. We will see what the days ahead bring but today was a great day. Ryan said wait it will get worse or you will have bad days. I know I will but today was a good day. I am thankful for the blessing of a a good day and feeling good.

I love getting all the messages it is so uplifting to get those at night and in the morning it sure is helpful Thank you. I wanted to post my testimony yesterday but I didn't have a chance so maybe tomorrow. Sorry for those that heard it on Sunday to hear it again but I thought it would be fun for those who weren't there. So we will see how I feel tomorrow.

Thank you!

Thank goodness for Tender Mercies. I know the Lord is holding you close and I am so thankful to Him that you're feeling good today. I think you're just proving to everyone how incredibly strong you are. I am so, so, happy with today's news. Tomorrow is another day, but today we have reason to celebrate!

As always, your in our prayers. (Hannah doesn't like saying "Sister Bassett" in her prayers...she always says "Kamden's Mom" which is precious to me. Look at what you're teaching our kids!)

Hi Rochelle! I'm not sure if you remember me, but Kara told me about your diagnosis, and I was waiting to get info from her on how to contact you, when I was talking with a lady at work and she mentioned a young lady whose parents were in her ward and her diagnosis, we started talking and I realized it sounded like what Kara had told me, so she gave me your info. Anyways, this is Betty Yeagley (Davis), and I hope you don't mind hearing from people from a past life it seems, but I just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers, and if there is anything I can do, do not hesitate to ask! Your attitude is an inspiration and I wish you and yours well! Keep your spirits high! Betty

WOW! What a hectic day! You overwhelm me as you still had time to keep us posted here on your blog. I would love to hear your testimony. The kids have half day Wednesday, so if you need anything let me know as I will be home. Thank you for being the shining example you are. I miss not having you be my visiting teacher. I always looked forward to those visits. It was my favorite part of the month.

I love your profile pic, Karen!

Rochelle, I'm so glad today was a good day! What a blessing and relief to know that you felt good today! We, too, know that not every day will be a good one and hope to be able to buoy you up on those not so good days.

I can't wait for you to post your tesimony. I would love to read it and hear it again. You have an amazingly strong spirit. Your abundance of hope and faith is truly inspiring. I hope tomorrow is another good day.

It's good to hear that today went well. I just want to remind you that you don't ever have to go anywhere alone if you don't want, even for just a little bit. My kids are in school all day and Gordon's here to deal with whatever comes up so if Ryan has to work and your family can't make it or whatever, I'm completely available. Keep smiling! I'll pray your tomorrow is as good as today.

Love,
Barb

I would love to hear (read) your testimony as well, I hear there were not a lot of dry eyes Sunday as the spirit was so strong in your meeting!

And I just feel like I should say, you DO NOT have to be sorry for posting "late". We all love that you are keeping us updated, but I hope I speak for us all when I say if there is a day you can't make it to the computer, we would understand!!

I hope you see more "good" days than bad on your journey and I agree with Barb, there are so many people that would love to go to the doctor with you, no need to do it alone!!

Rochelle, I love you and your family so much. I am passing out the Jewerly postcards at the salon and keeping you in my prayers. When you feel like you have time to sit, lets grab your mom and go to the Temple.
Take care, I will be in touch. Loveya, Daya

Rochelle,
I'm so glad it was a great day. You've got the right idea to take each day as it comes and to be thankful for the good days - so positive, I love it. It also sounds like it might be a bit of a relief to know that Camden and Carter might be feeling a bit better now too. I am so impressed at your thoroughness with all the info on the blog - WOW.

I am so proud and humbled by how strong and positive you are Rochelle! I love you so much. I wish I could take this from you to myself. I know the Lord will be near you through this fight with cancer. My scriptures study has been focused on the power of God and his healing power. With God all things are possible! Love and hugs, Mom

Hi Rochelle,
You've been in my thoughts constantly lately - I wish you didn't have to go through this, but since some of us are "lucky" enough to experience it, just know that you will be blessed because of it. You probably already feel the incredible outpouring of the Spirit in comforting you - it will sustain you in the days ahead. I never felt alone - more a feeling of calm and sweet assurance that everything was happening that Heavenly Father wanted me to learn from. I just hope I haven't forgotten what I was supposed to learn! (Yes, forgetfulness is a big part of taking chemo!!). Enjoy the days of feeling good - relish every little pleasure!! Our family loves you.
Love, Lois

I think that without really doing it, you have already shared a huge part of your testimony with all of us. And I would love to hear more. Your faith and strength are a testimony to me.

I'm so glad that yesterday was a good day. Here's to many more!

I would love to hear your testimony again, also. I was so grateful when you went up to the podium on Sunday. The spirit was so strong. Your strength and attitude are amazing to me and help remind me that my little complaints are just that...little and of no real significance! Keep the faith and your beautiful smile! We'll keep praying for more good days. Remember that I'm just down the street and always available. Love,Carolyn

rochelle, i'm happy to hear yesterday was a good day. one of the most amazing things about your fight with cancer is not only will you feel closer to heavenly father and strengthened by him but all of us are too. i bet we are all praying alot more and thinking of ourselves alot less. there are great blessings in our trials and you are blessing the lives of those you touch.

Rochelle,
You don't know me but I am a friend of Brittney (your cousin) and felt a need to email you. I am a advocate for cancer and volunteer for the American Cancer Society and I am wondering of you have gotten in touch with this wonderful organization. They can help you understand whatever you don't about cancer and there are a lot of programs that you and your family could benefit from that are free.

There web site is www.cancer.org or you can call 1-800 ACS-2345

I wish you well and know that you are not alone, there are millions of people out there doing whatever they can to help find a cure for all cancers.

You are in my prayers
Cyndi

Rochelle, I'm in 1st ward and when I was VT this morning to Kim H. I was telling her how much I am thinking about you. I just wanted you to know, that people all around the stake that don't know you, are praying for you and your family! You have touched all of our hearts and we want the best for you! I think starting this blog and telling people about your days, is a great idea! Keep up the good spirits!

YOu don't know me but I teach in the same district as your dad. I have known him for many years. What a great source of strength he must be for you. He has always been very good to me and my 2 kids that were in his class. I admire him so. I am sad to hear he is not feeling well. I pray for him and you(family) every day. I just finished reading your blog. You seem to be anawesome young woman of great faith. I asked for prayers for you and your family in our Sunday School class. Our Father's arms can hold many of us close to him at all times in our life. May we be celebrating, weeping, or just loving, HE is there. I am thinking of you... Renee Wilhelm

Hi Rochelle!

I'm so happy that yesterday was a "good" day for you! But you shouldn't have to be by yourself through any of this. Three of my boys are in school all day now (is it inappropriate to say "YEAH"?!) -and I'm sure I could get someone for Bennett to stay with (if Mick's not already home), so I'm basically free to go with you anytime! Please call!!!!

And I think Natalie said it perfectly..."one of the most amazing things about your fight with cancer is not only will you feel closer to heavenly father and strengthened by him but all of us are too." It's so true! You've really touched me with your testimony and your attitude with all of this. Thanks for your blog and your thoughts!

Love,
Jodi
